Automation Engineer
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Testing and debugging of automation equipment while applying knowledge of engineering technology as necessary.
- Programs, troubleshoots, and evaluates any design considerations on new, existing systems and equipment which will include maintaining a backup library of PLC, instrumentation software and electrical documentation.
- Designs & implements engineering solutions that meet the project requirements while monitoring budget constraints to maximize production equipment quality and efficiency.
- Preparation of project scope, cost justification and AFE (overall cost proposal) to senior management for approval as required.
- Applies mechanical theory, mechanical testing procedures and related knowledge to layout, build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify production equipment.
- Evaluates, selects, and coordinates with outside vendors for design, machining and fabrication of parts and systems.
- Willingness to travel for projects on short notice including weekends - 70% Travel (typically 1-2weeks at a time)
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
- Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience as Automation Engineer with focus on Siemens PLC's
- Expert level knowledge of Siemens Step7, TIA Portal, Safety ES, WinCC flexible & Advanced
- Proficiency in designing controls systems.
- Strong MS Office, AutoCAD Mechanical & Electrical, E-Plan
- Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical systems.
- Excellent analytical thinking and innovative problem-solving skills
- Has the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional communication skills
- Bilingual (English / Spanish) is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 55 lbs. overhead
- Ability to stand, crouch and climb to perform duties
- While performing the duties of this job, the individual is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
- The work environment can be very hot, over 90 degrees.
- Vision: 20/20 corrected and normal hearing range
