About Dan Kuhar, CPC

Dan is a Partner and recruiter in the Nonprofit Practice at ThinkingAhead. He connects top-notch industry leaders with meaningful client organizations across the country. He has over 15 years of experience developing and directing Charter schools from Hawaii to Florida, and is passionate about schools of choice, experiential education, supporting youths, environmental conservation, service learning, and outdoor recreation.  Additionally, Dan has over 15 years of professional experience partnering with local nonprofits to establish robust and rigorous field science projects, a wealth of community partnerships, service learning opportunities, community gardens, and a floating classroom.  

Dan graduated from the University of Florida, with a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology, and a Master’s degree in Science Education. Upon his successful completion of his Master’s degree, he moved to Maui, Hawaii. While in Hawaii, Dan helped to build and establish the first STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) school in the state of Hawaii, Kihei Charter School, one of the most successful public schools in the State. This work led to National award recognition, including large grant awards such as a Toyota Tapestry Grant and a NOAA B-Wet Grant. Directly prior to coming to ThinkingAhead, Dan was a leader at Great American Opportunities, and helped hundreds of schools and school groups, raise the additional funds they needed to meet their annual goals, fund special projects, and enrich their students. He was the number one producer, amongst his peers, and helped schools raise nearly a million dollars in his two years.               

Dan was born and raised in Florida, and currently resides in Tampa, Florida. He is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys spearfishing, freediving, scuba diving, paddle boarding, fishing, surfing, hiking, skiing, and travelling. The majority of his free time is spent with his nine-year-old daughter co-learning, adventuring, and having fun.
