Business Development Officer – Direct Originations, Middle Market Equipment Finance (Remote – Northeast U.S.)
About the Company
Our client is a regional community bank and a top 50 equipment finance lender, providing tailored financing solutions to businesses across the country. As part of a continued expansion of its direct origination platform, the company is seeking an experienced sales professional to grow its presence in the Northeast.
About the Role
This is a direct origination role focused on calling directly on end users — not the vendor or dealer channel — within the middle market equipment finance space. The ideal candidate is a self-sufficient hunter who can independently build a territory, source new business, and manage transactions from first call through funding. This is a remote, home-office-based position covering a Northeast territory.
Key Responsibilities
- Prospect and directly originate new equipment finance business by calling on end-user companies (not vendor/dealer channel) within the middle market segment
- Build and manage a robust pipeline of prospective borrowers and lessees across the assigned Northeast territory
- Develop and execute a territory sales plan to meet or exceed annual origination targets
- Structure, negotiate, and close equipment loan and lease transactions tailored to client needs
- Partner with credit, underwriting, and operations teams to move transactions from proposal through funding
- Cultivate long-term client relationships to drive repeat business and referrals
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to build market presence
- Maintain accurate pipeline, call activity, and forecasting records in the company's CRM
Qualifications
- 5+ years of direct origination experience in middle market equipment finance or commercial equipment leasing, calling directly on end users
- Proven track record of self-sourcing new business and consistently meeting or exceeding production goals
- Strong working knowledge of equipment finance structures (loans, leases, TRAC leases, etc.) and credit fundamentals
- Established network of relationships within the middle market segment strongly preferred
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote role while traveling within the Northeast territory as needed
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent industry experience
Location & Travel
Remote / home-office based; candidate must reside within the Northeast U.S. Regular travel within the territory is required to meet with prospects and clients.
Compensation
Competitive base salary plus incentive/commission plan, commensurate with experience.
