Underwriter

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Commercial Credit Underwriter/Analyst to join our Underwriting team. In this role, you will lead the credit evaluation of large dealer relationships, producing clear, well-reasoned credit narratives for audiences ranging from individual reviewers to senior credit committees. You'll be a key voice in a multidisciplinary review process, applying sharp financial instincts and strong communication skills to help maintain a sound and compliant loan portfolio.
What You'll Do
Prepare concise, impactful written credit analyses centered on the cash cycle of dealership operations, synthesizing input from multiple internal and external stakeholders. Apply underwriting guidelines to inventory finance transactions, evaluating collateral risk, credit risk, and KYC due diligence to determine alignment with our stated risk appetite.
Conduct cash flow analysis for companies with significant inventory investments using Moody's-based analytical tools, and structure complex transactions with well-negotiated credit documentation that appropriately mitigates risk. Connect behavioral indicators and specific metrics to form a holistic view of each dealer's financial health.
Manage credit file workflows by maintaining consistent communication with internal teams and external clients, ensuring timely and well-organized reviews. Apply sound accounting judgment — particularly when assessing internally prepared financial statements without independent verification — drawing on principles familiar to candidates with ABL backgrounds.
Complete specialized reviews including permanent and temporary line increases, overlines, product additions, financial covenant triggers, and high-risk account monitoring. Prepare and deliver presentations to executives, credit committees, and loan participants. Support broader portfolio risk management initiatives as needed.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • 5+ years of commercial lending, underwriting, or financial analysis experience (or equivalent)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex financial data into clear, actionable conclusions
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including comfort presenting to senior audiences
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional environment
  • Proven track record managing competing deadlines in a fast-paced setting
  • Experience working within a regulated lending environment
  • Familiarity with internal and/or external audit processes
  • Experience developing or maintaining process workflow tools, tracking systems, or compliance monitoring frameworks
  • Minimal travel required
