Payroll Specialist
We are partnered with a well-established CPA and advisory firm to hire a Part-Time Payroll Specialist with strong payroll compliance and accounting fundamentals experience. This on-site opportunity offers a consistent Monday-Wednesday schedule totaling approximately 15-20 hours per week.
This role is ideal for someone coming from an in-house payroll or payroll service bureau environment who enjoys building long-term client relationships while operating in a collaborative, compliance-focused accounting environment.
The Payroll Specialist will oversee payroll processing, payroll tax compliance, and related accounting responsibilities for a select group of small and mid-sized business clients. This individual will serve as a trusted resource to both clients and internal team members while supporting accurate financial reporting and payroll operations.

The Payroll Specialist will oversee payroll processing, payroll tax compliance, and related accounting responsibilities for a select group of small and mid-sized business clients. Responsibilities
- Process end-to-end payroll for multiple client entities
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and multi-state payroll regulations
- Interpret and apply payroll compliance requirements related to remote employees, wage and hour regulations, overtime taxation, and benefit taxability
- Register clients with taxing agencies as needed
- Handle payroll tax filings, notices, agency correspondence, and tax resolution matters
- Prepare and distribute W-2, W-3, and 1099 forms
- Maintain payroll records and support audit readiness
- Support bookkeeping and accounting functions including reconciliations, payroll-related journal entries, and month-end close activities
- Prepare client-ready financial and payroll reporting
- Serve as a payroll and compliance resource for clients and internal stakeholders
- 2+ years of payroll and/or accounting experience
- Strong understanding of payroll compliance and payroll tax regulations
- Experience with payroll tax filings, notices, and agency correspondence
- Understanding of multi-state payroll and benefit taxability regulations
- QuickBooks Online experience is helpful but not required
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and client service skills
