Senior SBA Portfolio Manager





Sr. SBA Commercial Portfolio Manager  

Purpose/Objective
Provides relationship management support to the SBA Lending line of business in monitoring and servicing an existing portfolio of complex loans and borrowing relationships. Continuously evaluates operational and financial performance to maintain portfolio quality and risk rating accuracy. Interacts with customers and internal partners to address credit and loan service-related matters. Assists Lending Officers in all aspects of customer servicing.

Key Accountabilities

Portfolio Management
  • Assists Relationship Manager(s) with managing a defined portfolio of existing commercial customers, including those with unique or complex banking needs requiring specialized SBA expertise
  • Proactively monitors portfolio for early detection of material changes in customer performance
  • Manages reporting delinquencies and tracks timely receipt of financial, collateral, borrowing base, insurance, and documentation exception/post-closing information
  • Completes Annual Reviews, periodic file memos, modification requests, and waivers per policy
  • Processes Line of Credit advance/pay down requests and maintains credit file completeness
Credit & Analytical Skills
  • Credit trained with working knowledge of SBA SOP 5010 and 5057
  • Assesses financial performance and risk; identifies mitigation strategies
  • Underwrites as necessary; adheres to loan policy and sound risk management practices
Customer Service & Deal Support
  • Provides excellent customer service; resolves issues independently
  • Reviews loan documentation and assists with closings, modifications, and post-closing follow-up
  • Conducts site visits and customer calls as assigned
Partner Relationships & Special Projects
  • Maintains solid working relationships with Credit, Documentation, Risk Management, Cash Management, and other internal partners
  • Mentors department staff; assists with loan review, regulatory audit preparation, and portfolio scrubs
Education & Experience
  • BS in Business, Economics, or Finance — or 10+ years in banking including financial analysis or loan workout
  • 10+ years of SBA loan closing, underwriting, and/or servicing experience
  • Minimum 5 years of direct SBA experience required
