Staff Accountant - Cincinnati
We are hiring a Staff Accountant for a well established mechanical contracting and construction services company. This role partners closely with the Controller and Accounting team to support general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month end and year end close processes while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP. The Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting accurate financial records, supporting operational accounting activities, and contributing to the integrity of companywide financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and support general ledger account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations and variance investigation
- Assist with journal entries and support monthly and year end close processes
- Maintain vendor records, including onboarding and compliance documentation
- Support internal billing processes and assist with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable activities
- Assist with weekly payroll reporting to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Process daily cash receipts and maintain appropriate documentation
- Contribute to ad hoc reporting, process improvements, and special projects
Qualifications
- 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably within construction, contracting, or service based environments
- Strong general ledger experience with exposure to month end close
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting principles
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and reconciliations
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively while maintaining confidentiality
- Valid driver's license required
