Accounting Manager (Path to Controller)
Location: West Chester, OH (Onsite to start, flexibility for hybrid after ramp-up)
Compensation: $100,000 - $120,000 base + $5K - $20K bonus
The Opportunity
This is a high-impact Accounting Manager role with a clear path to step into a Controller position. You'll work directly with executive leadership and take ownership of the company's financial operations, with the ability to grow into a leadership seat as the business continues to scale.
The company is doing ~$40M in revenue and looking for someone who can come in, stabilize processes, and build structure across accounting and financial reporting.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Own and manage day-to-day accounting operations across multiple entities
  • Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow, and overall financial health of the business
  • Lead month-end close, including reconciliations and financial statement preparation
  • Manage accounts payable processes including coding, approvals, and disbursements
  • Coordinate with external accountants on tax compliance and strategy
  • Handle all corporate tax liabilities including payroll, local, state, and federal
  • Oversee payroll and support HR-related backend functions (comp changes, benefits, 401k, etc.)
  • Review closing statements (ALTA) and manage escrow processes
  • Work with lenders and provide quarterly financial reporting
  • Maintain and improve accounting systems, processes, and internal controls
  • Manage insurance policies and ensure proper coverage across the business
  • Support leadership with financial analysis and reporting as needed

What They're Looking For
  • 5+ years of accounting experience (Accounting Manager or Senior Accountant level)
  • Strong hands-on accounting background (this is not a purely strategic role)
  • Experience managing financials for a small to mid-sized business
  • Comfortable owning full-cycle accounting processes
  • CPA preferred but not required
  • Construction or homebuilding experience is a plus, not a must
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems (Marks Systems is a plus but not required)
  • Ability to work closely with leadership and operate with discretion
