Billing Manager - Cincinnati

We are working with the Controller at a well established mechanical contractor to add a Billing Manager their team in Cincinnati, Ohio. The company has over 70 years in business and operates across Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana delivering design build, fabrication, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and service solutions to mission critical industries including healthcare, higher education, pharmaceutical, data centers, and commercial construction.
 
With hundreds of employees across multiple locations and strong multi state operations, the organization offers the stability of a large, well capitalized platform while maintaining a relationship driven culture. The company is recognized for its nationally recognized safety program, strong apprenticeship training programs, and long tenured leadership team.
 
The Billing Manager will lead and develop the billing and A/R function, ensuring accurate invoicing, strong cash flow management, and process efficiency across project billing operations. This is a key leadership role with direct impact on financial performance and client satisfaction.
 
Responsibilities
- Lead, hire, train, and manage a team of billing professionals
- Oversee invoice generation ensuring accuracy in pricing, quantities, and contract terms
- Manage accounts receivable and monitor aging to drive timely collections
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and client disputes
- Ensure compliance with construction billing standards and internal controls
- Analyze billing data, generate reports, and provide insights to leadership
- Partner with operations, project teams, and leadership on billing and cash flow strategy
- Maintain and optimize billing systems and workflows
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency
- Support additional accounting and finance initiatives as needed
 
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in billing and/or accounts receivable roles
- Experience within construction, project based, or contract billing environments required
- Strong understanding of project billing practices and invoicing cycles
- Proven leadership experience managing or mentoring a team
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
- High attention to detail with strong financial acumen
- Excellent communication skills with ability to interface across teams and with clients
- Experience with billing systems and reporting tools
- Valid driver's license required
