We are hiring a Staff Accountant to support the Controller and Accounting team with general ledger accounting, construction accounting, and financial reporting activities. This role provides hands on exposure across all accounting functions and plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting Work in Progress (WIP) reporting, and ensuring proper revenue recognition in a project driven environment.
This position collaborates closely with accounting, operations, and project management teams and is ideal for an accounting professional seeking to expand technical accounting experience within construction and job cost accounting.
Schedule: Fully onsite, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Reports to: Controller
Responsibilities
- Assist with month end, quarter end, and year end close processes
- Prepare and post journal entries including accruals, prepaid expenses, and allocations
- Perform general ledger account reconciliations and investigate variances
- Maintain accounting records in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Prepare and maintain Work in Progress (WIP) schedules using percentage of completion methodology
- Analyze job cost reports and compare actual costs to project estimates
- Assist in identifying overbillings, underbillings, and margin variances
- Partner with Project Managers to validate job status, cost to complete, and revenue projections
- Support monthly revenue recognition calculations and backlog reporting
- Assist with audit support, tax filings, and external financial reviews
- Support internal control procedures and accounting policy documentation
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiency
- Perform additional accounting duties and special projects as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Two to five years of WIP accounting experience
- Experience supporting general ledger accounting and month end close
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Strong Excel skills
- Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
- Ability to collaborate cross functionally
- Construction, contracting, or project based accounting experience preferred
- Job costing and Work in Progress (WIP) schedule exposure preferred
- Percentage of completion accounting experience preferred
- Experience with construction ERP systems such as Viewpoint Vista or similar preferred
