Plumbing Estimator - Cincinnati

We are working with leadership at a well established mechanical contractor to add a Plumbing Estimator to their team in Cincinnati, Ohio. The company has over 70 years in business and operates across Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana delivering design build, fabrication, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and service solutions to mission critical industries including healthcare, higher education, pharmaceutical, data centers, and commercial construction.

The Plumbing Estimator will play a key role in preparing competitive cost estimates for commercial plumbing and mechanical construction projects. This position works closely with the VP of Estimating, subcontractors, suppliers, and project teams to ensure accurate takeoffs, pricing, and scope development while supporting a smooth transition from estimating to project execution.
 
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed plumbing project takeoffs and develop accurate cost estimates
- Obtain and review quotes from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive and complete pricing
- Work closely with the VP of Estimating to maintain and improve estimating databases and tools
- Assist with the development and maintenance of estimating spreadsheets and cost tracking tools
- Support smooth project turnover from estimating to project management teams
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to clarify scope and secure final pricing
- Communicate directly with subcontractors and suppliers to review project scope and pricing assumptions
- Prepare and clearly document scope letters and estimate clarifications
- Lead the development and finalization of job estimates for submission
- Support scope reviews with clients and customers as needed
- Perform additional estimating or project support duties as assigned
 
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of commercial plumbing or heating estimating experience
- OR completion of an approved apprenticeship program with at least 3 years of experience as a Journeyman
- Minimum 10 years of prior estimating experience preferred
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and drawings
- Knowledge of plumbing and piping installation methods and systems
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel
- Detail oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to communicate professionally with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Experience conducting scope reviews with clients or project teams
- Experience with estimating software or Quicken preferred
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Journeyman Plumber License or equivalent experience preferred
- Journeyman HVAC License or equivalent experience preferred
- Eyesight correctable to 20/50
- Ability to walk construction job sites, climb ladders, and access equipment as required
- Valid Driver's License required
