Audit Manager, CPA - Davison County, SD

We are hiring for an Audit Manager with a well-established public accounting firm in Davison County, SD to lead complex audit engagements across a diverse client base. This role combines hands on technical leadership, client advisory, and team development. The Audit Manager will play a key role in driving audit quality, mentoring professionals, managing engagements efficiently, and contributing to the continued growth and evolution of the firm's audit practice.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, manage, and oversee audit engagements from start to finish, ensuring compliance with GAAP and GAAS
  • Review audit workpapers, financial statements, and reports for accuracy, completeness, and quality
  • Manage engagement timelines, budgets, and client expectations
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for audit clients and provide value added insights
  • Advise clients on internal controls, risk management, and operational improvements
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor audit staff and senior associates
  • Lead engagement teams and ensure effective delegation and collaboration
  • Stay current on accounting and auditing standards, regulatory changes, and industry trends
  • Support practice development, proposals, and firm wide initiatives as needed
Qualifications
  • Active CPA license required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; Master's degree preferred
  • 7 to 10 years of progressive public accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or manager role
  • Strong technical knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and audit methodologies
  • Experience managing multiple audit engagements and client relationships
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop audit professionals
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Willingness to travel to client sites as needed, with limited overnight travel
  • Ability to meet annual CPE requirements and uphold professional standards
