Power Systems Studies Engineer
Position Overview
We're seeking an experienced Power System Studies Engineer to perform analytical and modeling work in support of power delivery projects across North America. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with ETAP and a strong understanding of system protection, load flow, short circuit, and arc flash studies.
This is a remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work with a collaborative, technically strong engineering team on projects that make an impact.
Responsibilities
- Perform power system studies including: load flow, short circuit, protective coordination, arc flash, and motor starting analyses.
- Develop and maintain ETAP models and verify system accuracy against client-provided data and as-built drawings.
- Analyze study results and prepare detailed technical reports and recommendations.
- Support system protection and equipment rating evaluations to ensure compliance with IEEE, NEC, and NESC standards.
- Collaborate with project managers, design engineers, and clients to define project scope and deliverables.
- Review and interpret one-line diagrams, relay settings, and system configurations.
- Participate in proposal development and provide technical input for scope and pricing related to studies.
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field (M.S. preferred).
- 3-10 years of experience performing power system studies for utility, industrial, or commercial clients.
- Proficiency in ETAP (experience with SKM or ASPEN OneLiner is a plus).
- Familiarity with IEEE, ANSI, NEC, and NESC standards.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while managing multiple concurrent projects.
- EIT or PE license preferred but not required.
