Business Development Officer

Position Summary
The Business Development Officer (BDO) is responsible for identifying, developing, and managing business relationships that lead to the growth of core deposits, including personal and commercial checking, savings, and money market accounts. This role requires a strong community presence, deep knowledge of deposit products, and the ability to develop strategic partnerships with small businesses, nonprofit organizations, professional services, and local influencers.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively identify and cultivate new business opportunities to grow the bank’s core deposit portfolio.
  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans focused on personal and commercial deposit acquisition.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key community stakeholders, including small businesses, real estate professionals, CPAs, attorneys, and nonprofit leaders.
  • Represent  Bank at community events, business forums, and networking groups to enhance brand visibility and generate leads.
  • Conduct needs assessments with prospective clients to recommend appropriate deposit products and banking solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal partners in Retail, Lending, and Treasury Management to deliver comprehensive banking services.
 
  • Maintain a deep understanding of competitive products and local market trends to help shape product offerings and marketing initiatives.
  • Track and report business development activities, pipeline status, and outcomes
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable banking regulations, policies, and procedures.
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in business development, banking, or financial services, with a strong emphasis on deposit acquisition.
  • Proven track record of successfully building and managing client relationships and meeting/exceeding deposit growth goals.
  • In-depth knowledge of consumer and business deposit products.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and networking skills.
  • Demonstrated involvement in local community and professional organizations.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with banking systems preferred.
