Turning Engineer

JOB:
The Turning Engineer/Technician is responsible for both engineering and hands-on set-up & operation of turning and/or grinding operations. You will also be involved in day-to-day maintenance of equipment, One-off custom or production of products, processing, tooling and methods of manufacturing, and anything else that comes along with the manufacturing of collets and workholding (for turning or grinding) solutions. This position also requires knowledge and understanding of GD&T, inspection, and ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
This role combines technical expertise w CNC and Manual turning and grinding equipment, knowledge and experience w CAD and CAM software, documentation including quotation interpretation, blueprints, traveler, and operation sheets. Experience bringing a product from blueprint to production.
OPPORTUNITY:
This is a high impact technical role, with requirements in engineering and processing, hands on manual and CNC operation, inspection, and maintenance. You also could be required to train a production operator to run and inspect the parts, once the job is set up and the part has been approved through inspection. You will be instrumental in getting solutions for customers ready for shipment in a timely fashion, with ownership of the project.

- Engineering – Part design, quoting/estimating (supporting estimators), process design, best method of manufacturing, etc.

Qualifications & Requirements:
- 5+ years’ experience on turning (lathe) and cylindrical grinding, CNC and Manual
- Engineering using CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, Solidworks, NX, or others is preferred)
- Inspection (reading and interpretation of Blueprint and specifications) and ability to measure part with metrology equipment (verniers, micrometers, bore gages, etc.)
- Ability to effectively communicate w colleagues
- Training and supporting production associates and/or machine operators
