Transmission Line Drafter

Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Transmission Line Drafter to support our growing transmission engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in drafting for high-voltage transmission line projects and be proficient in AutoCAD and SolidWorks. This is a remote position with the opportunity to work on impactful utility projects from anywhere in the U.S.
Key Responsibilities:

• Create and revise detailed drawings of transmission lines, structures, and components based on engineering markups and specifications
• Develop plan and profile drawings, structure details, material lists, and associated documentation
• Coordinate with engineers and project managers to ensure drafting deliverables align with project requirements and deadlines
• Maintain consistent CAD standards across projects and adhere to client-specific requirements
• Generate 3D models and structural layouts using SolidWorks for project visualizations and component design
• Perform quality checks on drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable codes and standards
• Manage and organize drawing files and revisions in accordance with project documentation protocols

Required Qualifications:

• Associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
• 2+ years of experience drafting in the electric utility transmission space
• Proficient in AutoCAD (2D drafting required; 3D knowledge a plus)
• Proficient in SolidWorks for modeling and structural drafting
• Understanding of transmission line components, structure types, conductor configurations, and industry terminology
• Ability to interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and standards
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience drafting for transmission voltages ranging from 69kV to 500kV
• Familiarity with NESC standards and utility-specific CAD standards
• Prior experience with PLS-CADD or other transmission engineering software (a plus, but not required)
