SBA Loan Assistant
About the Opportunity
An established community bank with a growing SBA lending division is seeking a detail-oriented SBA Loan Assistant to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity for a banking or loan support professional who wants to build deep expertise in SBA lending while playing a critical, hands-on role supporting the full loan lifecycle — from application through closing.
You'll work closely with SBA lenders, underwriting, and closing teams, serving as a key connector who keeps loans moving smoothly, accurately, and in compliance with SBA standards.
What You'll Do
- Support lenders by gathering and organizing borrower documentation required for SBA loan applications
- Prepare and review loan files for completeness and compliance with SBA SOP and internal checklists
- Track pipeline activity and provide clear, timely status updates to Relationship Managers, borrowers, and internal stakeholders
- Partner with underwriting and closing teams to keep loan processing on schedule
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in the loan origination system throughout the life of each loan
- Manage correspondence between borrowers, lenders, and third-party vendors (appraisers, title companies, and others)
- Support documentation for SBA authorizations, closing packages, and post-closing requirements
- Proactively flag compliance issues or documentation gaps to Relationship Managers or the Credit Administrator
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in loan support, loan processing, or banking operations
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of SBA lending SOP and regulations
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple files simultaneously
- Proficiency with loan origination systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with SBA SOP documentation standards
- Analytical skills
- Understanding of credit underwriting guidelines
- Understanding of financial documents
