Key Responsibilities
- Develop new commercial banking relationships and expand market presence throughout Northern Michigan.
- Manage and grow a commercial loan portfolio while maintaining strong credit quality.
- Partner with business owners to provide tailored lending, deposit, and treasury management solutions.
- Build and maintain relationships with attorneys, CPAs, business owners, and other centers of influence.
- Evaluate credit opportunities and structure solutions that align with the bank's credit philosophy and profitability goals.
- Monitor portfolio performance and proactively manage asset quality.
- Prepare and present credit recommendations and loan requests for approval.
- Represent the bank at community, civic, and business events.
- Collaborate with internal partners to deliver an exceptional client experience.
- Five or more years of commercial lending experience.
- Previous Credit Analyst experience with strong commercial credit skills.
- Formal banking credit training required.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Demonstrated success developing commercial relationships and growing a commercial loan portfolio.
- Experience managing a commercial and industrial (C&I) portfolio, preferably exceeding $100 million in commitments.
- Strong business development, networking, and relationship management skills.
- Established relationships within the Traverse City and Northern Michigan business communities strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial approach to business development.
